The Rules of Resilience

DEF:> Resilience is the capacity to Prepare for, Overcome and recover from challenge in whatever format it takes

a) Prepare for: Therefore Self Care is essential

B) Overcome : This is our natural talent ** be careful not to overuse

c) Recover from: High Value recovery is the secret to sustainiable performance

1) Resilience is a capacity so it varies depending on our personal and professional demands over time : The secret of Resilience is high value recovery

2) If you are going at full speed you can’t accelerated : Therefore we are no longer adaptable

3) If you are approaching a turn you need to slow down: Therefore we need to know how to slow down so we can accelerate when required.

4) High Value recovery does not take a lot of time but it takes a lot of committment : See Dr Mike Evans below

5) the performance curve shows that we have a tendancy to push ourselves beyond optimal performance: See your presentation

Self Awareness is essential to developing greater Resilience

I have added this talk because it is a great example of making the impossible possible. Evelyn Glennie as a deaf percussionist who got accepted into the london school of music demonstrating how challenge +motivation = possible. The point made about the difference between doing what you are told and the ability to translate that into an adaptation that is greater than the original should not be lost on anyone trying to improve under challenge
