Resilience and sustaining performance

Welcome to the support page for your company sharing some insights on creating more resilience. What is resilience and how can we create more of it

A working definition of resilience :

Resilience is the capacity to - be prepared for - overcome - and recover from challenge in

whatever format that challenge takes

Our levels of resilience will change at different times of our lives . One very simple lesson is that resilient people don’t blame themselves when things go wrong they see problems as issues to be overcome. The secret of Resilience is to believe in your ability to overcome a challenge

Building greater resilience can involve some very simple behaviours and takes very little time

The following talk shows that overcoming a challenge is a great way to build your resilience. Here are three secrets to resilience

Dr Mike EVans gives some fascinating insights into how simple improvements can be achieved in very little time

Here are some videos that outline the paradox of how our minds work. Our perspectives become more important than the reality of what we are facing. Resilient Thinking involves the ability to see beyond the negative perspectives that often pollute our thinking.

Next Dr Mike Evans shows the power of changing our thinking

it is clear that much of what puts us under the most pressure comes from our own negative thoughts here is some insights into where these thoughts come from.

here we look at unconscious processes including impostor syndrome, psychological safety and the underpinnings of every argument you ever had

Next Professor Renata Salecl outlines a philosophical perspective on the paradox of choice. Truth is when we have choice we need to deal with loss and loss is a psychological safety issue…….. its why we love a crisis …… in a crisis we have no choice

this is where nike gets the phrase “just do it” ! the best way to change behaviour is to start changing behaviour

Tim Urbane confronts one of the enemies of Behaviour Change : Procrastination

I have added this talk because it is a great example of making the impossible possible. Evelyn Glennie as a deaf percussionist who got accepted into the london school of music demonstrating how challenge +motivation = possible. The point made about the difference between doing what you are told and the ability to translate that into an adaptation that is greater than the original should not be lost on an innovative leader (circa 2 mins)
