Jill Bolte Taylor gives one of the most inspirational speeches in the History of TED Talks using Genuineness and Authenticity. She lost her right brain dominance and became dominant in non verbal right brain processes
Dr Iain McGilchrist is a Psychiatrist and philosopher provides some insight into the application of left and right brain dominant functions. At a recent training I attended he described the recent growth in the global economy (post industrial revolution was as a result of left brain dominant processes and the economic growth of the future will be as a result of right brain dominant processes. These are the creative and dominant processes that are stimulated during moments of deep reflection engaging these creative and innovative processes that come to the fore when we are not in task orientation having a shower, walking, swimming, running, relaxing etc. He refers to this state as “the gift”
I have added this talk because it is a great example of making the impossible possible. Evelyn Glennie as a deaf percussionist who got accepted into the london school of music demonstrating how challenge +motivation = possible. The point made about the difference between doing what you are told and the ability to translate that into an adaptation that is greater than the original should not be lost on an innovative leader (circa 2 mins)
I hope you find these supports both meaningful and inspirational. I hope it provides the insight to approach leadership in a way that inspires both you and your teams and please if you have any questions and/or queries please send them to me ray@resilienceinternational.com
